kawaiibrownsweater:

This is a 10 minute documentary about the iconic ‘Shack’ on the marshlands leading to LBI.

I have grown up seeing this shack and seeing it wither and break down. It is something that is close to my heart.

Now it is gone, having been carried away with Hurricane Sandy. This documentary is beautiful and I loved it.

Resource for Recovery Organizations to receive goods #LBI @GivingSomething

I evacuated my home in Harvey Cedars as Sandy approached and went inland.  I quickly found myself unable to leave my computer as I searched for information about the island and the storm.  Realizing I wasn’t alone, I launched this blog to help others, like me, find information about their homes and businesses, and was amazed to see over 350,000 hits on the site.

My day job is running GivingSomeThing.com, a website that helps nonprofits receive goods from donors.  It operates like a wedding registry, allowing nonprofits to make a list of the exact things that they need, donors select and pay for goods, and the goods get shipped directly to the nonprofit.  It is free for nonprofits and free for donors to use (no markups or fees).

Seeing traffic from all 50 states (and around the world) on LBIrecovery.tumblr.com, GivingSomeThing may be a way to help organizations receive some much needed support.

Organizations can sign up on GivingSomeThing.com.

Please help spread the word and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

All the best,

Dave
